Educational games such as Brain Age and Big Brain Academy have been of increasing popularity since their release. The games give you a way of exercising your brain through different activities such as, math problems, memorization games, and counting currency.
I have been given the opportunity to try the newest one, Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree for the Nintendo Wii, and I can see why these games have become so popular. They not only offer a way to exercise your brain but they also make it fun and challenging.
When you start playing you'll be given the opportunity to take a series of tests that will determine your brain "weight" and throughout the game you will be trying to improve this score. After the initial test you can try the different exercises offered. These are sorted into five different categories, memorize, compute, visualize, analyze, and identify. You can also play these categories in multiplayer, adding competition to the game. You can earn medals in each different game and your high scores are recorded so you can keep track of your progress. The medals are a way of motivating you to do better.
There is not much depth to the game play, however, if you enjoy challenging yourself mentally then this game is for you. In conclusion I found this game to be a great way of exercising my mind. The challenge and encouragement give you what you need to train your brain. If you're interested in sharpening your mind, this game is for you.
