Super Paper Mario for Nintendo Wii takes the best aspects of old school and new gaming, making an incredible combination. The combination is so good it's hard to define an actual genre for the game. The main feature that makes it hard to fit the game into a category is Mario's ability to "flip" the world between 2-D and 3-D. When the world is 2-D you get the best of Super Mario platforming from the days of the SNES and NES. When flipping to 3-D you'll find that what seemed like a dead end in the 2-D world has become a new passage and there are many more advantages to flipping perspectives as well.
Aside from the game play the storyline is very involving, all of the character's conversations can be read in text bubbles and there is a lot of text to be read. While this makes it not a very suitable game for younger gamers, the positive side to this is that the dialogue of the game is very amusing. Also the characters are all well developed and believable.
The graphics are very suitable for this style of game as well. The colourful backdrops are all well-designed and pleasing to look at giving the game the feel of any standard Mario platformer but the newer RPG (Role Playing Game) aspect is also there. Overall the entire game was extremely well done and presented, making it a definite title to be picked up by Wii owners.
