Steel Signals
Written and illustrated by Elsa Germain

there waiting for the light
feign they should cross otherwise
the cars passing by -fierce
neon, red steel and smoke
a dizzying array of pollution
set to chaotic beat -a five o'clock rush
and they two waiting at the sides
one at one end and the other
both looking across but not at each other
the lights behind on either side
two heads above
the walking man's not there -he is missed
for more than two minutes now
they've been standing like this
trying not to look at each other
while they're getting the hand red handed
don't look at me / look at me love
