Pokemon Battle Revolution
by Scott Leslie

Platform: Wii
Publisher: Nintendo
ESRB: E (Everyone)
Developer: Genius Sonority

Pokemon Battle Revolution will come as a slight disappointment to anyone who does not have the Pokemon Diamond or Pearl games for the Nintendo DS. This is because most of the special features in the game involve Wii and DS connectivity.

The first of these features is DS battle mode, this is where you can connect your DS to the Wii with two or more people and use your team of Pokemon on the DS to battle on the big screen.

The main mode in the game is Coliseum Mode where you battle your way through ten different coliseums each having its own unique set of rules. However before you start this you can transfer your Pokemon from the DS game to the Wii to create your own team for attempting the coliseum matches. You can also customize your trainer's appearance for when you battle.

After winning at a coliseum you will be given a certain number of points which can be used to buy items for your DS game, via the mystery gift function, or new outfits to customize your trainer with. This is also the first Wii game that uses the Nintendo Wi-Fi feature, allowing you to connect to players from around the world and battle. However the experience is not much different from a battle in Coliseum Mode.

The disappointing thing about this game is that it doesn't have nearly as many features as its predecessors such as Pokemon Stadium and Coliseum. Things like the ability to win Pokemon to transfer to their respective Gameboy games and the optional mini-games, along with several other features, have been cut from this Pokemon installment.

Overall you should only consider purchasing this game if you own a DS with Pokemon Diamond or Pearl, otherwise the game experience will be greatly diminished. But if you're a die-hard Pokemon fan and you own the above games chances are good you'll become a fan of Pokemon Battle Revolution.
