What If? International

What If? International Submission Guidelines

What If? is now accepting material from young adults from around the world. Please read carefully to make sure you and the material you are submitting are eligible as not all categories are open to international readers.

What can I submit?

  • Poetry: Poems in any style up to 20 lines may be submitted for possible use in the new ‘What If? around the world’ section of the magazine or the international section of the website.
  • Short Fiction: Stories up to 1000 words may be submitted for possible use in the new ‘What If? around the world’ section of the magazine or the international section of the website.
  • Non-Fiction: Personal experience pieces up to 1200 words may be submitted for possible use in the new ‘What’s your story?’ section of the magazine and website. This section was specifically created to tell the stories of the lives of your young readers and help each other connect, so make sure your piece is a true story of an experience you have had. We are not looking for opinion pieces for this section.
  • Audio and video files: These could be spoken word pieces, animated shorts, music you have created, humourous videos, rants (clean language of course), or any sort of file you feel would compliment the What If? site.

Am I eligible to submit?

  • If you are 19 years of age or under and live somewhere on the Planet Earth you are eligible to submit your material.

How do I submit my material?

  • The easiest and cheapest way to send your material is via email to: editor@whatifmagazine.com
  • If you prefer to send material by mail please be sure to supply us with an email address where we can reach you or a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE) with sufficient postage to send you a response. Please remember: We will be sending the response from Canada so you must use Canadian postage stamps or an International Reply Coupon (IRC). See what I mean about email being easier?
  • Any material you submit whether by email or snail mail must have your name, age, complete mailing address (even if you are submitting by email) and email address somewhere on the piece. Any material without this information will not be considered.

Thank you for your interest in What If? magazine and we look forward to seeing your ‘stuff’.
