Perspectives – 1st Place – A New Way?

“No, do it this way.”
“That’s crazy and it’s not going to happen.”
“Questions 1 to 5 on page 127 are homework that is due tomorrow.”
Do these statements provoke any thoughts or is this just the way life is for you?
Ask five adults (preferably college or university educated) on a scale of one to ten how much they remember of what they learned in school. Do their answers surprise you? Now ask them if they remember their favourite TV show or book from their years as a teen. Do those answers surprise you? Ask them about their pastimes and about how much they relate to their pastimes as a child or teen, as opposed to their education.
Now picture a newborn baby boy and its development. Do you think the baby’s parents set a curriculum for teaching him to walk? How about learning to talk? Read the rest of this entry »

Perspectives – 1st Place – Shark!!

Picture this: A dark grey dorsal fin slicing through the water’s surface. And that’s all you need to have people in hysterics and running for safety.

SHARK. The name itself brings images from a Steven Spielberg flick; mangled human bodies and a gaping maw filled with rows and rows of razor-sharp chompers. Movies the likes of Jaws have unfortunately prompted a widespread fear that has little fact to support it. Read the rest of this entry »
